2027: The Science and Skills for Showing Up Better

Welcome to People + Performance Academy, an organization-wide learning experience led by Dr. Steve Robbins that explores the fascinating science of human behavior and translates it into practical skills for everyday life and work.

Through engaging, research-grounded learning experiences, participants discover why we do what we do, how our behaviors influence others, and how we can become more intentional about the way we show up. Because better performance isn't simply about what people know or what they're capable of doing. It's also influenced by how people think, interact, collaborate, and respond to the world around them. And those are things we can all learn to do better.

Our Approach: The Science. The Skill. The Practice.

Knowing something doesn't necessarily mean we'll do something differently. That's why every Academy webinar and participant workbook follows a consistent learning approach.

THE SCIENCE: Discover what research tells us about human behavior—and why we think, feel, and act the way we do.

THE SKILL: Learn practical behavioral skills that can help us respond more intentionally, connect more constructively, and positively influence others.

THE PRACTICE: Apply what you've learned through reflection, real-world challenges, and everyday Behavioral Action Moments.

The goal isn't simply to know more.

It's to show up better.

THREE LEARNING EXPERIENCES

The 2027 Academy features three distinct learning experiences, each exploring a different dimension of human behavior. Organizations can participate in one, two, or all three experiences, depending on their interests, needs, and goals. Each experience stands on its own. Together, they offer a broader exploration of the science and skills for showing up better.

THREE WAYS TO LEARN THROUGHOUT 2027

February - April, 2027
Experience 1: A Tale of Two Brains

Why We Do What We Do

Ever wonder why you sometimes react in ways you later regret? Or why you can be so certain about something, only to discover you were wrong? Our brains are remarkable. But they're not always working the way we think they are. Explore the science of automatic thinking, assumptions, cognitive biases, and emotional reactions—and discover practical ways to become more self-aware, challenge your interpretations and assumptions, and respond more intentionally.

Featured Webinars:

Tuesday, February 9: Who's Really Running the Show?

Tuesday, March 9: Why Smart People Do Dumb Things

Tuesday, April 13: Getting Out of Your Own Way

The takeaway: Better understand yourself, recognize what's influencing your behavior, and develop skills for making more intentional choices.

We're social creatures. We want to belong, be understood, and feel valued. Yet we also form groups, make assumptions about others, and sometimes struggle to connect with people who think differently. Explore the psychology of belonging, social identity, inclusion, and psychological safety—and discover how our everyday behaviors can strengthen relationships, encourage participation, and create better conditions for people to contribute.

Featured Webinars:

Experience 3: The Power of You

Understanding the Impact of Our Own Behaviors

You may have more influence than you realize. A comment in a meeting. A reaction to a mistake. A moment of empathy. A decision to speak up—or stay silent. These everyday moments can influence how others think, feel, and behave. Explore the science of social influence, behavioral modeling, and group norms, and discover how small, intentional choices can positively influence relationships, leadership, and organizational culture.

Thursday, December 16, 2027 - 12:00 to 12:55 PM ET

Special Topic 6: The Science of Motivation

What really motivates people to do their best? Explore the psychology of motivation, including autonomy, competence, and purpose, and discover how everyday interactions can strengthen—or undermine—people's willingness to contribute.

Whether your organization wants to strengthen self-awareness, collaboration, inclusion, psychological safety, leadership, or organizational culture, the Academy provides accessible, practical learning grounded in behavioral science. You don't need a leadership title to benefit. And you don't need to participate in all three experiences to get started.

One Membership. Everyone Included.

People + Performance Academy is designed to make organization-wide learning practical. There are no per-employee participation fees for Academy virtual programming. Your organization designates an Academy Coordinator. We provide the content, resources, communications, and participation links. Your organization decides how broadly to promote each opportunity and manages its own internal participation.
