Relational Intelligence Practice Lab
(Powered by the HERO Skills®)
A structured, cohort-based year-long learning lab to turn human skills into real habits and culture-shifting capabilities.
Overview
Modern workplaces don’t rise or fall on technical skill alone — they rise or fall on the quality of relationships, communication, adaptability, and trust. The Relational Intelligence Practice Lab is a live, cohort-based development experience designed to help emerging and established leaders turn human skills into practiced, repeatable behaviors that accelerate belonging, psychological safety, and high performance.
Grounded in Dr. Steve Robbins’ HERO Skills® Framework — Humility, Empathy, Reflection, and Open-mindedness — this Lab provides a structured environment for learning, real-time application, and growth. Through facilitated sessions, guided practice, and cross-organizational learning, participants strengthen the metacognitive skills needed to collaborate effectively, lead inclusively, and build cultures where people feel seen, valued, and motivated to contribute at their best.
How It Works
The Practice Lab meets six times across the year (bi-monthly) in a small-group virtual cohort. This cadence balances live learning, applied practice, and reflection, giving participants the time and space to internalize skills and then bring real-world insights back to the group.
Each session blends:
-
Science-based learning grounded in cognitive and social neuroscience
-
Guided HERO Skills practice between sessions to build mastery and habit formation
-
Real-world application through challenges and workplace scenarios
-
Reflection and feedback with peers across multiple organizations
-
Practical action tools to take back to teams and daily work
Unlike one-off workshops, the Practice Lab is designed to rewire behavior over time — strengthening neural pathways and making relational excellence a repeatable, automatic part of how leaders show up.
Who Should Participate
The Lab is ideal for:
-
Emerging and future leaders
-
High-potential talent cohorts
-
ERG and culture champions
-
Team leads and frontline supervisors
-
Anyone responsible for influencing others and shaping culture
As part of Relational Intelligence Academy, participating organizations can name up to 6 participants to join the cross-company cohort at no additional cost (additional seats available at a per-participant rate of $2,450/additional person). This multi-organization experience intentionally exposes leaders to diverse perspectives and expands learning beyond internal culture patterns.
Key Outcomes
Participants will:
-
Strengthen the cognitive and emotional skills essential for leading people
-
Build confidence applying the HERO Skills in real work situations
-
Expand capacity to navigate conflict, change, and diverse perspectives
-
Increase relational self-awareness and interpersonal effectiveness
-
Learn to model inclusive, human-centered leadership practices
-
Bring tools, activities, and language back to their organization
More than learning what great relational leadership is, participants learn how to practice it — consistently, consciously, and skillfully.
Why It Matters
Workplace cultures change when people do. The HERO Practice Lab is not an information program — it is a behavior-shaping system designed to help leaders grow and to cascade relational intelligence across teams. The result is a stronger culture, better decision-making, higher trust, and performance rooted in belonging and human connection.
